Los Angeles, California, United States, 10th Aug 2022, King NewsWire, Viral Sensation Maia Clayre just became one of the first transgender women to debut as a rapper and be taken seriously. She’s definitely one to stand out in the very competitive music industry. With an amazing backstory, She can be described as one of the most “generous, funny, and loving people” by her close friends and family but you might know her from her outgoing, crazy, and spunky personality or her viral videos. Growing up without a parental figure threw Maia right into hustle mode where just at age 14 she was monetizing her audience and selling out her first sold out meet and greet in New York in 2017. Only to grow immensely on both social media and in business from there. Shortly after in 2019, she used the knowledge she had been learning from her experiences, peers, and social network to start a successful social influencer convention company. Around the same time she started posting rapping videos that would change her life forever.

A Dream Come True

After a few videos went viral and her business was taking off, Maia was receiving offers from reality TV shows and Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow casting team to audition for their next season. Unfortunately covid-19 struck and put a hold on Maia’s fast moving career before she could really embark on her rap career. “ I was so stressed and my life was just turned upside down in less than a week” “ I just wanted to take it as an opportunity to reflect, grow and rebrand to an even better version of me” the rapper said. A few month later Maia Clayre announces the soft debut of her Women’s Clothing Brand “ My Key Aesthetic ” and the opening of the first pop up store in the Providence Place Mall. Reportedly bringing in over 6 figures in revenue the soft launch was a success! Back to the drawing boards Maia went. After the pop up shop closed Maia relocated to Los Angeles all the way from Boston Massachusetts by herself at just 19 years old. Where her convention company hosted a halloween concert “Scare Fest” that had appearances and performances from Lil Mosey, Landon Barker,  and more well known public figures.

What Keeps You Going?

Pushing LGBT equality, empowering other women, and spreading awareness about drug addiction are only some of the many things Maia is passionately vocal about on her platforms. “ After coming out as trans it was very hard to be taken seriously.” the 20 year old rapper said. “ I had many engineers and producers try to play me and purposefully sabotage the recording sessions or some of them would ask for sexual favors on the down low just to properly mix and master something . ” Maia Said. Just like everything else that could have knocked her down this did not stop Maia it only made her more determined. “I want trans women and women in general to be respected. I want them to know that even with all of the negativity, adversity, and the odds against you. You can still accomplish your dreams and do it.” she explains. “When I posted my first music video in 2019 Sukihana from Love and Hip Hop Miami reshared it on her instagram story and I was so surprised but it showed me the support and love was there even when I wasn’t fully confident in myself. I try to keep that in mind when I’m feeling nervous or insecure about new projects I’m putting out there” Maia  Said.
